This visa allows international students to live, study and work after you have finished your studies.
KEY POINTS:
You must be in Australia to lodge a valid visa application unless a concession applies, or you are making an application under the replacement stream.
There are 3 different visa streams:Post-Vocational Education Work stream Post-Higher Education Work stream and Second Post-Higher Education Work stream.
This allows you to stay in Australia temporarily. The different visa streams decide the length of your visa.
You may qualify for a second or third visa in the post-study stream if you satisfy the residency-based requirement.
KEY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
THE COMMON CRITERIA FOR ALL STREAMS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
You must be 35 years or under when you apply. *Exceptions apply
You must hold or have held an eligible student visa in the last 6 months unless a concession applies.
You must display your English proficiency by achieving an overall score of at least 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 for each of the 4 components on the IELTS test. (Alternative tests can be used including OET, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE). Holders of specified types of passports are exempt from this requirement.
You must have satisfactory arrangements for health insurance.
You must satisfy specific Public Interest criteria and Special Return criteria.
You must meet health and character requirements, including applying for an Australian Federal Police check in the last 12 months.
You must satisfy specific criteria for the visa stream you are applying for.
Post-Vocational Education Work stream :
This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs. It lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily.
You must have a skilled occupation on the relevant Medium and Long Term Strategic Skilled List (MLTSSL)
You must satisfy the Australian Study requirement within the last 6 months with an associate degree, diploma or trade qualification only.
Your qualifications must be closely related to your nominated occupation.
You must have a positive skills assessment from the relevant skills assessment authority concerning your nominated occupation.
You can stay Up to 18 months and for Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for 5 years.
Post-Higher Education Work stream :
This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. It lets you live, work and study in Australia temporarily.
You must hold or have held a relevant student visa.
You must hold a bachelor’s degree, Bachelor (Honours) Degree, Masters by Coursework Degree, master’s by Research Degree, Masters (Extended) Degree or a
Doctoral Degree.
Your qualifications were awarded by an institution registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students.
You must satisfy the Australian Study requirement within the last 6 months unless a concession applies.
Second Post-Higher Education Work stream :
This visa is for Temporary Graduates holding a Post-Higher Education Work, Post-Study
Work or Replacement visa with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional
area. It lets you live, work and study in Australia temporarily.
You must be 35 years or under when you apply. *Exceptions apply
You must hold a Temporary Graduate visa in the Post-Higher Education Work, Post-
Study Work, or the Replacement stream and have held a Temporary Graduate visa
in the Post-Higher Education Work or Post-Study Work stream, as the main applicant
You must have a degree in a CRICOS registered course from an education institution
based in an eligible designated regional area, that led to the grant of your first
Temporary Graduate visa in the Post-Higher Education Work or Post-Study Work
stream
You must have lived in an eligible designated regional area for at least 2 years before
applying for your Second Temporary Graduate visa in the Post-Higher Education
Work stream
You must have satisfactory arrangements for health insurance
